As CEO of 3 Round Stones, Bernadette Hyland has over 20 years of experience in large scale information management strategy and implementation. Her extensive technology background includes leadership roles at financial services firms in New York and Tokyo, with assignments at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, and prior to founding 3 Round Stones, as CEO of Zepheira, an innovative Web services firm.
Ms. Hyland has over a decade of experience as co-founder and CEO of high-growth, profitable software organizations in Australia and the US. In 2002, she introduced the first commerically supported graph database used by the US intelligence community. After securing a Series A venture round in 2003, she assisted the successful acquisition of Tucana Technologies by Northrop Grumman (2005).
Ms. Hyland’s management experience gives her insight into the strategic challenges facing organizations who need to combine enterprise data with open data on the Web. She is expert in international Web data standards (W3C). Ms. Hyland is author of over a dozen publications on best practices for publishing complex data on the Web, including Best Practices for Publishing Linked Data and the W3C Linked Data Cookbook, and a chapter author of two peer-reviewed books Linking Enterprise Data (D. Wood, ed, Springer, 2010) and Linking Government Data (D. Wood, ed, Springer, 2011).
An avid proponent of STEM education starting at the middle school level, Bernadette volunteers as a mentor and sponsor of a local high school robotics team. She is the mother of two teenagers and is an avid student of Aikido, a non-violent Japanese martial art.
Bernadette holds a BA Computer Science and Linguistics from U.C.L.A.
